Run Guns Project Gunrunner T-Shirt
A pop culture tongue-in-cheek commemoration of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Project Gunrunner. For those not familar, the project's official objective was to stop the sale and export of guns from the United States into Mexico.
To make a long story short, the ATF hoped to accomplish this by allowing thousands of straw purchases on behalf of Mexican drug cartels to continue
, in order to track the firearms as they were transferred to higher-level traffickers and key figures in the Mexican cartels. The theory was that these actions would lead to mass arrests and the dismantling of the cartels.
Out of the 2000+ straw purchased firearms, fewer than 700 were recovered as of late. A number of straw purchasers have been arrested and indicted, however the targeted high-level figures are still at large.
The RUN DMC inspired logo is fitting in more ways than one. Whenever you put this t-shirt on you'll not only be reminded of ATF Project Gunrunner, but likely also of the killer guitar riff in RUN DMC's collaboration with Aerosmith coincidentally titled "Walk This Way".
